Danville Family Photographer
Have you ever met a family that puts the F in fun? The kind of people that just make everything delightfully entertaining, leave you in stitches, and your cheeks aching from laughing so hard? Well, Cory, Heather, and their kids certainly check all those boxes. Not only are they clients, but they also have the title of friends. To me these experiences are the most gratifying because I get to help the people I love create and preserve lifelong memories. That is such a reward for me.
Bay Area Family Photographer
A family portrait session is something that Heather had been wanting for the past two years. However, getting her family on board was a completely different story. I can wholeheartedly tell you that I know many moms out there who can relate to this dilemma, myself included. How many of you can mentally hear the collective groan of your family when you say the phrase "family photo session"? The last time Heather and Cory did a family session was 2013. Heather has spent the past two years talking about how much she wanted a family portrait session. She told me, she told her husband, and she even told my husband! When that didn’t work she put the ball firmly in Cory’s court, telling him how important it was to her and leaving it up to him to make it happen. It just makes me laugh because there’s that saying, "happy wife, happy life" which Cory readily embraced as he reached out to me to set up their session. Not only did he have to book and plan the session (the easy part), but he also had to convince their son that he had to wear what I affectionately call, "hard pants". Negotiating a teenage boy out of basketball shorts and into pants is no easy task. In our house it is a battle that happens probably three times a year and I respect the resilience of parents who have the fortitude to stand their ground. Kids are master negotiators when it comes to comfort.
Walnut Creek Family Photographer
Although Heather had some input with their Contra Costa County family portrait session, most of the decisions were left up to her thoughtful hubby. They both reviewed the location galleries that I sent to them during the planning phase. The benefit of these galleries is that it helps you narrow down the type of location that not only appeals to you, but also fits with your family aesthetic and home decor. Both of these are important to keep in mind as we plan your custom session. This guarantees that your heirloom images are an authentic reflection of you and blend elegantly into your home. After narrowing it down to two gorgeous and natural landscapes, Cory had a hard time deciding which of those two he wanted. Because Pixel Pages Photography is a full service portrait studio, I relish in the opportunity to assist you with the planning stages of your bespoke session. When you come to a cross roads like this, I will help you make the best choice for you and your family. I shared with him some pros and cons of each location, described what they currently look like, and ultimately this helped him decide which would be best for the four of them and also fulfill Heather's vision.
Authentic Family Photography
Although I have watched their kids grow up from infancy, it was still important for me to put them at ease at the beginning of the session. I wanted them to warm up and feel comfortable in front of the camera. Even when you’ve known the person behind the camera your whole life, it still doesn’t make sitting in front of it any easier! We joked around and I may have mildly observed out loud that Colin is now officially taller than his dad. That warmed them up real fast ;)! The thing I love about this East Bay park is that there are several options for settings and it’s spacious. This allows for some privacy during your session. Privacy is something that’s important to me because I know how vulnerable it can feel to be in front of the camera, much less when you feel like you’re on display for everyone else as they walk by.
Family Photos With Dog
For their 2013 session Cory and Heather brought their dog, Mason. He was the sweetest boxer who was getting up there in years and it was important to them to incorporate him in their family photos. Since that session, Buster joined the family. It would not be a true family portrait without Buster. San Francisco Bay Area Spring Family Photos
The weather was perfect for Cory and Heather’s San Francisco Bay Area family portrait session. It was warm, but not uncomfortable. Unlike summer, it wasn’t too hot for long sleeves. Honestly, that’s the perfect spring evening isn’t it?
In addition to the ideal weather, the wildflowers were plentiful. The hillsides were teeming with color: yellow mustard flowers, pops of purple from vetch and some scattered Lupin, pale shades of green from the natural grasses, and the tall wild oats put on a golden show when the setting sun illuminated them. Aside from the wildflowers, the other aspect I adore with this location are the scattered oak trees and unique outcropping of sandstone rocks. These rocks lend a subtle beachy vibe which is unique in a setting such as this. These rocks also provided their photos with some nuance of texture.
East Bay Funny Family Photos
As you can see from the images we spent the evening in full-blown laughter. I love how their real personalities came through the photos and the natural smiles that easily bubbled up during these special moments. Authentic portraits that tell the story of Cory, Heather, and their family. To get these images we took the time to talk, walk around, and chat about the kids sports and subsequent sporting injuries. 2 kids + 2 sports + 2 injuries = 2 surgeries. Ooof! Fortunately both are slowly on the mend and hopefully able to return to their normal active selves soon.
