Taking a Moment to Frolic Through the Forest with a Beloved Family in Oakland, CA
SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA FAMILY PHOTOS
Bay Area living involves lots of hustle and bustle does it not? Sometimes that can make fostering relationships difficult because we are waist deep in doing alllll the things and being pulled in what often feels like a dozen different directions. However, carving out time to get know my clients is so important to me. We all deserve to feel valued and special. These relationships are the foundation of what I do because I know they come with the gift of trust. You let me into your life, you offer up your vulnerability in front of the camera, and you share your stories with me.
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY FAMILY PICTURES
This is something I have grown to understand after years of being in business. Ten years ago when I was a relatively new photographer, naive in the way of business and building those cherished connections I met the sweetest couple. They were busy planning their intimate mountain wedding and heard of me through the groom’s sister’s friend who I happened to have met through her husband and some mutual friends. Side note, y’all this world is small which serves as an another lesson in why it is important to be kind to people. You never know how you’re going to be connected! Anyhoo, I photographed their engagement session, they booked me for their wedding, and unbeknownst to either of us, it was the beginning of a serendipitous relationship.
ALAMEDA COUNTY FAMILY PHOTOS
In the past decade I have watched their family grow from two kindred souls into four. I have watched them say goodbye to pets who have crossed over the rainbow bridge. I have watched them needlessly worry about parenting when they are such obvious naturals at it. We have talked about traveling, camping, and many of life’s adventures. And I have watched their parents savor their role as grandparents. Yes, I get to take beautiful pictures of people, but building relationships with people like Mike and Dallas is the cherished benefit of having my own business.
WALNUT CREEK, CA FAMILY PHOTOS
For this year’s session I had a new location I was wanting to try and they were hoping to catch their littlest’s first steps in our images. Although the location was great their youngest decided to embrace Murphy’s Law and save the first steps for after they got home. Ha! Well played Juni, well played! We may have missed the first steps but we definitely captured some tender and authentic moments between them.

I love the warmth Mike and Dallas share. They are such a loving team. And let me tell you, I have never heard a husband talk with such awe and devotion as Mike does when he describes the strength of his wife during childbirth and motherhood. As a wife and mother who has birthed two babies I appreciate that. And what can I say about Dallas other than to know her is to love her. She is just magic, pure magic.
SAN RAMON, CA FAMILY PHOTOS
So while living in a densely populated region like the Bay Area may mean we don’t always get the time to foster relationships like we would in a small town, that opportunity is still out there and when it presents itself, take the advantage of it because you never know what magical and lovely people will grace your life.
