MY APRIL RECAP
APRIL’S BEHIND THE SCENES GLIMPSE OF YOUR EAST BAY SENIOR PHOTOGRAPHER, CA
The month kicked off into high gear with spring break. I personally can’t think of a better start to the month than a road trip full of exciting new adventures. April also brought some exciting and big stuff for us in our normally quiet little lives here in the San Francisco East Bay.
PLEASANTON, CA SENIOR PHOTOGRAPHER SPRING BREAKIN' IN ARIZONA
Spring break had us exploring the state of Arizona and the southern California desert. Who knew the desert could be rife with beauty during spring? I will admit, I am not a desert fan, but I was unprepared for the splendent color that this year‘s super bloom brought to Arizona. The landscape was thick with green verdant grasses as the hops of wild flower color, created a delicate lace work pattern.
Our method of travel has evolved over the years as we’ve gotten older. My husband and I find that we now prefer to start our days shortly after 7am so we are able to ease into our day with a cup of coffee and a good book for me. We then do some form of an excursion earlier in the day so that we are able to make it to happy hour and unwind over appetizers and a drink. We definitely still have very robust agendas and a long list of things we would like to see and do when we travel, but we are now carving out extra time so we can embrace the concept of slow travel here and there. Everyone seems to be a little less grumpy when we give ourselves the opportunity to just sit and unwind with some downtime. Some items on our excursion list or want-to-see list just don’t make the cut. I’d like to say I’m totally fine with that, but there is a part of me that feels like I missed out on a unique experience. However, I am learning that I don’t need to do all the things in one trip; it gives me the reason to return again and again.
I will be posting a much more in-depth blog post about our Arizona adventures later, so stay tuned for that.
WALNUT CREEK, CA SENIOR PHOTOGRAPHER
While I enjoyed our time visiting with friends and the springtime Arizona landscape I can assure you it is not a place I would want to visit in the warmer months. I think after the crazy heatwaves we had last year I am permanently scarred by hot weather. We were blessed with mild temperatures and the vibrant colors of a spring superbloom which, unlike previous desert experiences, didn't leave me feeling as if I was in a dystopian novel.
APRIL READS
Speaking of novels, I rambled my way through several in April. They were:
Braving the Wilderness by Brent Brown
The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams
Every Summer After by Carley Fortune
Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Ng
The Hole We’re In by Gabrielle Zevin
The Righteous Minds: Why Good People Are Divided by Politics and Religion by Jonathan Haight
My favorite fiction novels were The Reading List and Our Missing Hearts. Braving the Wilderness was not only my favorite non-fiction, but also my first Brene Brown book. I enjoyed her writing and can unequivocally say it won’t be my last. You can find all my reviews HERE on my Good Reads account.
LIVERMORE, CA SPRING SENIOR PORTRAIT SESSIONS
April brought a busyness with work. Seniors who want springtime portraits full of color with wildflowers and lush green grasses were in luck this year. It was a good one! We had smooch fun planning their senior photos in Livermore, Danville, Pleasanton, and Walnut Creek. I also found a new location that created some pretty spectacular images that my senior clients and their families loved. It is always a good sign when they love pretty much every image during their session reveal slideshow and that warms my heart. Some very valued relationships were made this year and that warms my heart!

AMADOR VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL PLEASANTON, CA MR AMADOR SHOW
In April I also had the privilege of photographing the Mr Amador Pageant. I was blown away by the dedication, talent, creativity, and humor all the participants, their teams, and the show organizers demonstrated. The show raised $53,591 this year for the George Marks Children's House. That deserves a raucous round of applause 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. To say it was an honor to be a tiny part of this effort is an understatement. Truly an experience I would love to repeat!
SOME EXCITING NEWS!
As I mentioned earlier in this post, there have been some exciting things going on. After more than a decade of coveting Subaru Outbacks I finally got one! I am not into cars and would rather drive mine into the ground before purchasing a new one. So many other things to spend my money on (like road trip). Unfortunately, the time came for us to replace one of our cars sooner than we anticipated and my husband wanted nothing more than to see me get a new one. Kudos to him for doing all the legwork and finding me a sweet little ride to road trip and camp in. I can't wait for all the new adventures we will taking!
NEW THINGS COMING TO PIXEL PAGES PHOTOGRAPHY!
That exciting news also reminds me of two other aspects of my business that are on the horizon. They make me bubble with joy! I will be creating an online print shop of some of my fine art landscape prints as well as a separate boudoir photography brand. Both of these are my summer projects so stay tuned for updates on that.
So much going on as we begin easing our way towards summer. The weather may not feel like it, but the end of the school year is approaching fast. Am I the only one who sometimes feel like the days slip by at lighting speed? Cheers to you friends the beginning of May!
